El 2 d’abril és el Dia Mundial de Conscienciació sobre l’Autisme i, per aquest motiu, he decidit que aquest curt surti en aquest moment. El que vull és donar una mica de llum a aquesta paraula que sembla que cada cop sentim més sovint.
Què és l’autisme? Doncs és una discapacitat permanent del desenvolupament que es manifesta en els tres primers anys d’edat i té un gran impacte en la vida dels nens, les seves famílies, les comunitats i la societat.
Avui se sap que no és un problema social sinó que té un origen neurològic i que es tracta d’una alteració que té moltes afectacions. Aquest trastorn queda englobat dins el TEA, que és el Trastorn d’Espectre Autista i dins el que n’hi ha d’altres com el Síndrome d’Asperger.
Quines afectacions pot tenir l’autisme? Doncs pot suposar el trastorn en les capacitats de reconeixement social, en les capacitats de comunicació social, i pot donar patrons repetitius d’activitat, tendència a la rutina i dificultats en la imaginació social.
L’origen es troba en una anomalia en les connexions neuronals i el seu grau de severitat varia molt.
Els casos més greus es caracteritzen per una completa absència de la parla de per vida i per comportaments extremadament repetitius, inusuals, d’autolesió i agressius, convertint-se en un repte molt gran a l’hora de conviure-hi. Mentre que en casos mou lleus pot passar desapercebut i confondre’s amb la timidesa, la falta d’atenció o l’excentricitat.
Complicat d’entendre, oi? Tots els trastorns ho són, però no per aquest motiu hem de decidir desconnectar, o deixar-los de banda. És important entendre què passa i no fer els ulls grossos.
Avui doncs, un curt per treballar l’autisme, per parlar-ne, entendre’l una mica més i sensibilitzar-nos.
